  1. Diarrhoeal disease is the second leading cause of death in children under five years old. It is both preventable and treatable. Each year diarrhoea kills around 525 000 children under five. A significant proportion ofdiarrhoeal disease can be prevented through safe drinking-water and adequate sanitation and hygiene.Dehydration can become fatal within a matter of hours. This paints a sobering picture, but the wonderful news is that kids can heal from diarrhea just as quickly as they can get sick. .

  2. Late last year my grown up nephew ate seafood that may be bad that he had loose bowel movement. After going to the toilet 5 times his mother brought him to the hospital. If not given medications within 24 hours my nephew might die of dehydration.

  3. Diarrhea is an infection of the intestinal track and can be deadly especially to vulnerable people like babies, young children or the elderly. It can be viral, bacterial or parasitic and can cause dehydration very quickly if not treated.

    Normally with the right diet and plenty of fluids it will clear up quickly but if a child or elderly person becomes very ill and the diarrhea does not clear up after a few days a doctor should be consulted. They can provide medication and drinks to replace the lost salts in the body. During the early  part of the illness it is better to drink fluids rather than eat solid food.

    For normally healthy adults you can get over the counter medication to relieve it.
